MISSION VIEJO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 29, 2006--Vigilistics, a company serving the dairy and
food processing industries with real-time operations intelligence software, announced two software modules
that assist dairy plant management to achieve sustainable, environmentally friendly operation while
improving dairy profitability.
Vigilistics' CIP module monitors each clean-in-place operation, and provides reports, performance
assessment, notifications, and suggestions for remedial actions. The focus is on detecting abnormal or
inefficient events during CIP which cause product loss or unnecessary use of water or chemicals that
ultimately impact the environment.
"One of our dairy plant customers saw their municipal wastewater bill drop by twenty thousand dollars per
month," said Craig Nelson, Founder of Vigilistics. "There is a convergence of benefits here - reduced milk
losses lead directly to reduced wastewater BOD, with a favorable result for the environment as well as for
the plant profitability. Vigilistics CIP reports are also designed to satisfy FDA requirements in place of chart
recorders, as they do at several of our customers' sites."
Vigilistics' Wastewater Management module keeps auditable records of measured flows and conditions of
wastewater, and provides prompt notifications of unusual conditions. "An unusual wastewater load can point
the finger at a problem operation," continued Nelson. "The cause can be investigated using Vigilistics
detailed monitoring records, to support corrective actions. Most product loss, and hence most wastewater
BOD loading, is due to avoidable human behavior. Wastewater fines can be avoided, while simultaneously
achieving reductions in product loss."
Vigilistics CIP and Wastewater modules are installed and operational at customer dairy plants, and are now
available for general use by dairy processors. Vigilistics also has previously announced five software
modules for dairy plant energy management that reduce environmental impact by reducing energy use in
pasteurization, refrigeration, evaporators, dryers, and boilers.
Vigilistics is located in Mission Viejo, California, close to the largest concentration of dairy and food
processing companies in the United States. Vigilistics software was developed specifically for compliance
requirements, including accurate and auditable data and plant models that allow fully compliant tracking and
tracing in a few seconds. Vigilistics software is offered with a set of optional economic modules for specific
economic performance objectives. An interface capability for ERP systems is also an option. Vigilistics Inc. is
a private venture-funded corporation.
Vigilistics is a Member of the International Dairy Foods Association working group focused on chemical,
water and energy usage reduction best practices for sustainability of global resources.
